Mostly Mum’s Fitness Files – Part 1.

Mostly Mum has a confession to make… She’s quit the gym! And not today or yesterday either… All of four months ago! 😳

I think it was the throwaway remark (except that it wasn’t throwaway for me… It has somehow got stuck in my brain and is on replay ever since!) made by the Hubby, quite randomly, one day that did it…

‘You don’t seem to be getting much return on that gym investment!’ he scathingly commented!

Wow! Shock! Horror! I don’t know which was worse the fact that he had said it or the fact that it was very much true!

The thing is I had been a ‘gym goer’ since Elle was about one and a half and, (painfully) truthfully, I was probably heavier than before I had joined. OK I had had another baby in the meantime and technically, muscle weighs more… Or is that a myth? But the fact remainedΒ  that I was now a hell of a lot poorer and, even worse still, heavier, than before I became a gym bunny.

So decisive action was taken! I quit the gym and consoled myself with some vintage designer bag investments – thank you, eBay! (Quitting the gym does have its advantages, I must say!)

However, the hard cold fact remained that Mostly Mum was not in the best of shape and something had to be done about it if she was ever to face the world without a coat cover-up again.

So this morning the fitness gear was somehow located (no mean feat, I assure you!)…

Light jacket cover-up is a must to hide unsightly wobbly bits! 😳

This is me about two years ago pre-Lulu. Slightly less wobbly maybe but considering the gym hours spent (not to mention money! 😩) not a dramatic difference…

But then (with the sun splitting the trees this morning and soaring temperatures) all good intentions went out the window when Mostly Mum caved on the way home from the school run and indulged in this (I’m blaming the coat cover-up, tooo hot!):

Too cool, too refreshing, too yum to resist!

On the plus side, and thinking back to my diet-swap-feature days on the mag, a Calippo is a much less calorific choice than, say, a flake ice-cream cone which I soooo wanted. Maybe not such a slip up after all. Well done, little old me, (pat on the back!), I think…

But once in the door and with Baby C napping in his buggy, I continued on the right path as I scrolled down through YouTube in search of the perfect baby-bulge-blasting exercise vid.

Oh dear! So much choice! So little time! Too much choice! Can’t decide….

And the verdict?

I managed my first workout in about a year. So a definite result! Also it was relatively easy to follow and there was no physical instructor in the room to embarrass me by telling me how I was doing it all wrong (a definite plus in my book!). Having said that, I might well have been doing it all wrong and completely wasting my time… We’ll see how much pain I’m in tomorrow… Will keep you all posted!

Must dash as it’s that time again! 😩

Great YouTube exercise video suggestions would be most welcome!
