Full makeup for a workout? Let me show you how!

A few days into my new diet and fitness regime and I’m already feeling the cold turkey effects of the combination of sugar deprivation and a sudden return to regular exercise.

Crabby? Check. Grumpy? Check. Headaches? Check. Achy all over? Check.

Now, I remember why I was so reticent about doing anything concrete to lose the baby weight before now.

When you are already sleep deprived, exhausted and busier than you’ve ever been in your entire life, the last thing you want to voluntarily add to your life is more pain and stress in the form of dieting and exercise. So you don’t until you can ignore it no longer…

And that time is now.

On the plus side, I am really enjoying my YouTube exercise videos and am not moving beyond the Bodyfit by Amy postnatal series, as it is exactly where my level is at right now,

In fact, I loved the 15 minute pilates one so much that I did it again this morning. Having been away so long from a set exercise routine I did really struggle at times though and during those extra challenging bits I would find myself focusing on Amy’s makeup, wondering if I could copy her totally inspiring smokey eye look.

Later on, I even managed to find her on Instagram so I could have a closer look.

Even up close it looks quite natural but it’s not! πŸ˜‰

I know because this evening, using some of my new makeup finds from a recent Poundland trolley dash (such fun!), I managed to…

Create a similar look.

Apologies for the pout – a natural selfie reflex, I’m afraid. 😳

How to do it…

Step 1:

A quick sweep of this super lightweight and iridescent foundation over the face and neck effectively conceals any redness or blotches in the complexion.

Lightweight and glowy – this gorgeous foundation from my favourite high street brand Bourjois does exactly as it promises. πŸ’—

Step 2:

I use my fingers (no faffing about with makeup brushes in this house!) to subtly highlight my cheekbone area with a powdered blush.

MAC’s Peaches has been a firm favourite of mine for a few years.

Step 3:

I gently sweep some of this ultra sparkly nude (so love this!) eyeshadow from Bourjois over the entire eyelid area.

I have this delish sparkly shade, Originale 03, for around a year now and use it every day as it really makes my eyes pop.

Step 3:

A smudge of MAC’s Mythology Lustre on the lower lids adds to the overall subtle yet glittery look and works quite well with my green eyes.

If it sparkles or glitters, it’s in my makeup bag!

Step 3:

Now for the hard part… To achieve that totally eye-popping smokey eye look, pull the eyelid taut and with light feathery strokes (it might take a few attempts to really get this as perfect as possible) draw a line just above the lash line starting from the inner corner.

And if the end result is more smudged than sleek that’s ok too, as wabi-sabi, the latest beauty buzzword (I do love a buzzword!) meaning the beauty equivalent of shabby chic, is all the rage right now. ❀️ it!

Poundland for that professional smouldering smokey eye look? Yes, really!

Step 4:

Then to finish off this eye-popping Cleopatraesque look, use a black kohl pencil to draw a line along the inside rim of the lower eyelid.

Step 5:

Lashings of black mascara? Well, it can’t hurt!

And volum-eyes it does! Poundland, you’re a genius!

Step 6:

Can’t forget the lips…

A quick slick of this pinker than pink shade from Chanel, blot with tissue paper and you have the prettiest pout in (almost) an instant.

Step 7:

Dip your nails into this little wonder pot to remove old nail polish without any scrubbing. No, not even a bit!  😍

And Poundland strikes, yet again! Wowser!

Now, for that natural nail look (well, as natural as I’m prepared to go), three coats of Essie’s Fiji.

Slightly smudged around the edges but hey, we’re embracing the wabi-sabi! (Also, it’s nothing a round or two of washing up won’t sort out!) 😊

Does it take away the exercise burn?

No, but at least it makes it bearable knowing that you look glowingly glam while working up that sweat!
