School’s finally out for the summer! Hurray! Or is it?
On the one hand, there is finally that exhilarating feeling of freedom. (Well, as free as you can be with three children in the house… ) Six whole weeks of school-run-free bliss! No more early morning panic, being late no matter how early we get up, forgetting things… (Or is that just me?!) 😳
However, on the other hand, there is a certain gnawing feeling of sadness and anxiety. You see, my biggest baby (who, at ten and almost eleven, is no longer a baby!) has just finished primary school. 😭 So, the last few weeks and especially today, her last day at her old school, have been an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least. It feels as if her journey into adulthood has stepped up a notch and as positive as that change might be, it’s also kind of… gulp… scary at the same time. 😨
On a more superficial level, the summer holidays – great as they are – mean six whole weeks without my school run(way) fashion (inspiration) fix. And that leaves me feeling a bit like this…
So to cheer us all up (or me, at the very least!), I thought it might be a good idea to end the school year on a high with another school run(way) post. (If you love this feature as much as I do, click on the following links: The School Run(way)…. The School Run(way)…. The School Run(way)…. The School Run(way)… US Style.)
One of the main reasons I love this feature so much is that the mums on the school run(way) are truly inspirational. Unlike celeb style, which is often purely aspirational, the mums on our local school run are mostly just like us, juggling work with family commitments and often on a tight budget. So when they manage to nail it in the style stakes, there are no excuses for us not to do the same.
One mum on my school run who always, without exception, looks amazing is Tamsin. Tamsin’s school run style is effortlessly chic. Whether she is wearing jeans or dresses, she always looks so perfectly put together that I have often found myself wondering where she got such and such an item.
But, good news! Today, we don’t have to wonder at all because she has told me where she found each and every one of those fab four items she is wearing in the picture below. So here goes…
- The sunglasses are from Ray-Ban (www.ray-ban.com) and cost around £130.
- That gorgeous horizontal stripe dress was bought in the Joules (www.joules.com) sales for about £30.
- Those fab sandals (so love these!) are from Office (www.office.co.uk) and cost approx. £40.
- That great bag comes from Whistles (www.whistles.com) and was £199.
When it comes to shopping, Tamsin loves quality British brands like Oasis (www.oasis-stores.com), Joules (www.joules.com) and Boden (www.boden.com). (Hmmm… noted!)
As for star style, Tamsin loves Meghan Markle’s pared-back sophistication and judging from the pictures below who can blame her?Embed from Getty Images

Although she might appreciate Meghan’s star style, the best thing about Tamsin is that she isn’t afraid to cultivate a sophisticated style all of her very own.
Now, that’s what I call a real style icon!
I would so love to know if you are more influenced by street or star style. Please, do let me know in the comments section below…
Until next time,
