Yuck! Housework!

Does anyone truly enjoy it?

Does anyone ever look this glamorous while doing it?

I know that I certainly don’t! 😔

And if you are like me, you will probably find housework generally… frustrating…
Confusing…

And overwhelming!

A mountain without a summit, a bottomless pit, it quite literally never ends…

But there is a teeny-tiny glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, my dear readers.

It is possible to make the most mundane of tasks… well, less mundane!

Domestic goddess bliss might not be a fifties’ fantasy after all…

All we need to do is…

1. Get some Insta-inspo

A strange phenomenon took off in the world of social media this year: Hinching”.

In short, a cleaning-obsessed Instagram influencer, Sophie Hinchcliffe, inspired her army of 2.9 million followers, her “Hinchers”, to fall in love with housework.

But how on earth did she do it?

Quite simply, she made housework into something aspirational, something that could help us to achieve that ultimate life goal… happiness!

And who doesn’t want a piece of that pie?!

Ingenious! 👏

Just look at that sparkling sink! Who wouldn’t want to achieve that?!

In turn, Mrs Hinchcliffe has inspired an entire subsection of Hinch-style cleaning influencers, like @sassyandclean below, who are equally inspirational when it comes to getting on top of those difficult to face daily tasks.

Clever tips, tricks and cleaning hacks from a close-knit community of housework devotees make even the most dreaded of cleaning chores (oven cleaning, anyone?) a breeze.

What is not to love?!

Almost overnight, housework has had an image overhaul.

No longer something to begrudgingly partake in, it is now a source of potential peace of mind and happiness.

And yes, I’ve fallen for the hype, hook, line and sinker… 💕

Weekends should be filled with fun, like relaxing trips to picture-perfect nail bars such as my absolute current fave @wenaildit. 💞💅 . . There was no time for such luxuries this weekend though, as, for some inexplicable reason, I was suffering from a bad, bad case of spring clean fever! . . After a whirlwind of activity, I think I have managed to disinfect every visible surface in the house (thank you @lovezoflora! 💖👏), I can now just about make out the bottom of the laundry basket (if I squint really hard and if there even is such a thing! 😜), the playhouse at the bottom of the garden is less of a dump site and almost ready for the kids to play in again (@ikeauk to the rescue!), and, best of all, the garden no longer looks like Sleeping Beauty’s untamed forest. Phew… and yay!!! 💖💖💖 . . Monday morning goals? To book myself in for another manicure ASAP! Oh, and to head to @poundland to pick up the cutest pair of rubber gloves I can find because a newly discovered cleaning addiction is not at all compatible with a long-held perfectly manicured nail addiction! 😳😩 . . Anyone else suddenly hooked on cleaning this spring? 🤞I’m not alone in the crazy clean zone! 😜🙃☺️😘 . . #momblogger #momlife #spring #springcleaning #lovezoflora #manicure #stressrelief #wenaildit #hashtagsunglasses #ikea #poundland #weekendvibes #sundaythoughts #nearlymonday #myunicornlife

And no, I’m not ashamed to admit it!

Not even the slightest bit! 😊

2. Personalise your products

Long before I discovered Mrs Hinch, I knew that a great cleaning product selection could turn the dullest of chores into an almost spa-like experience.

The all-natural Method cleaning product range, which is deliciously scented and kind to both people and the planet, has always been my top choice.

For some detailed product reviews, check out Mostly Mum’s Top 6 Family Friendly Products of the week… We can’t survive without these, can you?, Spring Clean – The Sequel and Spick ‘n’ Span?

However, I can credit Mrs Hinch with my recent discovery of Zoflora, an inexpensive disinfectant that comes in a variety of addictive seasonal scents.

Arm yourself with a cute spray bottle of diluted Zoflora and you will never, ever again, want to skip a session of mopping the floor or cleaning the bathroom, promise! 🤞

I am absolutely loving the limited edition @lovezoflora in sparkling spruce. 🌲 • My kitchen smells incredible right now. I was chosen as a brand ambassador in August and I have been super excited to get some Winter scents I’m loving the festive fireside aswell. • Sparkling Spruce has a combination of spruce and eucalyptus, with hints of pine and nutmeg. • I will be keeping this in my Christmas cleaning caddy I’m just waiting on some Christmas minkys to arrive. • Have you managed to get this scent at all? I found mine in Tesco. @lovezoflora #lovezoflora #hinchyourselfhappy #zofloraaddict #hincher #imahincher #mrshincharmy #sparklingspruce #hincharmy #hinched #mrshinchbook #hinchingcommunity #mrshinchhelpedme #hinchingmad #cleaningaccount #greyhomes #mrshinchhome #hinchersofinstagram #newzoflora #zoflorahunt #zofloraobsessed #cleaningpage #cleaningdays #zofloraspraybottle #zoflorahome #mrshinchinspired #minkehs #hinchingmyhome #minkeh

A truly therapeutic experience! 😍

3. Select your soundtrack

Another surefire way to make short work of those neverending daily household tasks is to set them to music, but not any old music, your very own personal playlist of upbeat, inspirational hits which will put a pep in your step and transport you to your ”happy place”.

YouTube is a great source inspirational music and will even compile a personal playlist for you based on your most recent searches, putting the ”smart” in your smart device.

My own most recent personal playlist is upbeat, motivational and Irish, with truly amazing tunes from; Dermot Kennedy, an up-and-coming international star…

The ever thought-provoking band The Script…

And former 1Directioner-turned-solo star, Niall Horan.

❤️❤️❤️

Who needs a gym when you can do a housework workout in the comfort of your own home?!

A two for one deal with a difference! 😉

Now, my only challenge is to stop myself my from slipping into Monica Geller OCD territory… 😮

A subject for a therapist, or even a new blog post, to tackle… 😉

As ever, I’ll keep you all in the loop, my dear readers! 😊

Until next time,

💋 Mostly Mum
