Yes, folks! Just like that! We are here again…
Hunting down the perfect tree!
Feeling exhilarated when all the lights decide to work (a pretty rare feat!).
Oh yes, indeedy!
Christmas is fast approaching.
We’re wondering how to style the Christmas tree, again! (And, how on earth a whole entire year has slipped by since we wrote our last blog post on this very topic, 👉 5 Must-Have Christmas Decor Updates ?) 🤷♀️
Then, to top it all, with a crazy toddler on the loose, it will be practically impossible to have a Christmas tree that doesn’t look entirely like the first half of Monica Geller’s poor tortured tree. 😩
Nonetheless, as an eternal optimist, I will – despite almost insurmountable odds – endeavour to create the perfect, Insta-worthy home this Christmas season, by sticking to one, or more, of the following themes…
1. Sugar and Spice
Take a quick peek at my Instagram profile and you will see that I am generally a big fan of pink and gold hues…
So, a pink and gold themed home for Christmas is bound to hit all the right notes.
Glistening pink baubles that resemble sugar-coated cake frosting and glistening gold figurines that look like they could tantalise the taste buds are simply everywhere from Poundland to Primark to the high-end department stores this year.
The only problem with this almost-good-enough-to-eat Christmas decorating trend is how to stop the children from reaching out and attempting to sink their little teeth into all those irresistible, yet totally inedible, treats.
Hmm…
2. Candy Land
Similarly, sweet-inspired decorations are absolutely everywhere this festive season. Think red and white candy cane spirals and fairytale gingerbread men and houses.
Impossibly cute and fantastical! 🍭🍬🍭
Is there a child out there who would not be mesmerized by a Kris Jenner-inspired candy laden Christmas tree?! 🎄
However, like the heavenly sugar and spice theme above, the sight of so much inedible deliciousness might just prove too tempting for inquisitive toddlers like my own little wrecking ball. 😐
Moving on…
3. Scandi-style
Ah! Is there anything more earthy and wholesome than Scandi-style wooden and felt festive decorations?!
This theme was pretty big last year, but, this year, it is positively huge.
Even if you wanted to avoid it, it is impossible. Those gnome-like Tomten characters are piled high in every garden centre and department store in London.
Together with tartan cushions and faux fur throws, they simply scream Christmas cosiness!
Impossible to resist, and unlike the previous two themes above, they are not likely to be chewed by the kids…
Not too sure about the dog, though! 😬
4. Silver and Gold
Now, this theme is quite possibly one of my favourites as it is Christmas chic in a nutshell.
Glitzy, glittering, sophisticated and as minimalist, or maximalist, as you choose to take it; what is not to love?! 💖
Again, reality star Kris Jenner leads the way with her impossibly luxe silver and gold themed entrance hall from a few years back.
Unadulterated opulence that shouldn’t tempt the taste buds of the kids… or the dog… ❤️❤️❤️
But, then again, where kids and animals are concerned, there are no guarantees…
Absolutely anything is possible! 😐
In which case, it might be best to restrict the decorating to a sprig of mistletoe…
Or, take a leaf out of my husband’s book, who suggested that he might have to resort to this…
On seconds thoughts, where is the fun in that?!
Best to plump for a bit of silver and gold around the mantelpiece…
Set the kids free on the tree, and hope for the best…
Ah, yes…
A touch of sugar and spice, a dab of candy land and a twist of Scandi-style.
Not exactly an example of Kris Jenner-inspired mono-themed perfection…
But (thank goodness for small mercies), at least, it hasn’t turned out like the first half of Monica Geller’s festive monstrosity! 🎄😉😊
Until next time, my dear readers…
Happy decorating! 🍭🎄🍭
